How to record video in low light conditions
February 18th, 2010 Someone could think that shooting in low light videos will hurt, but in many cases is the increasing share of the darkness to the brightness of the results of a more dramatic and artistic
picture. Still photos in less light requires more attention to detail and knowledge of your camera. They are listed below what I believe is essential tips when shooting in conditions like that.
1. Wide Angle Lens
I often have better results in low light conditions with a wide angle lens, asthe greater depth of field. It allows me to keep more land in focus and more light in the lens. For example, when I shot a wedding, many rooms days dim the lights to create a romantic mood. As a result, I was resting one of my cameras with wide-angle lens with a panoramic sight on the dance floor to catch – often from 2 sal. I use wide angle perspective to my advantage and not have to worry about artistic depth of field or focus questions.
2. Saying "NO" to enlarge
If the focus (with zoom) to increase, it reduces the amount of light allowed into the lens. As a result, the image becomes darker, as the zoom can be problematic if the ambient light levels are already inadequate. If you need to get closer to the action, you must physically move closer.
3. Pragmatic Word
Do not expect the picture quality is not a level playing field with lights on, wheat-free,> Video set-up. I think the greatest tragedy of image often exceeds loss of quality. Some of my best photos were taken in poor lighting conditions. Often, when I'm at a wedding, dance and take the photo, I prefer a camera for me in favor of the most attractive multi-colored lights DJ. Do not be afraid to experiment and go natural.
If I was shooting on the beach, natural light can be my best friend. If you live in Southern California, you will notworrying too much about the cloudy sky. The golden hue at sunset is produced on a clear day will certainly give your video that seems expensive, without costing a penny.
4. Advantages and disadvantages of On-Camera Lights
After a camera on a light can be a lifesaver when you are left with little or no chance of integrating into the darkness. But when you buy a light, I would be clear to everybody that allows you to make your output (brightness) is not disabled. The problem with a fixed light intensityis very easy to over or under expose your image. As a result, you need the constant opening or shutter speed to adjust to compensate. Oh, it's hard enough to focus in dim lighting, additional complications plot is not merely punishment.
Another tool to consider is a lens of diffusion. Without some form of damping on-camera light will project a beam of hard on the issue, and make them look washed out. If you're a wedding photographer or trying to createa romantic vision, it is important that you have a goal of dissemination shall apply to your lights.
5. For use intelligent electronic
Film in general, is obtained electronically, such as using a higher speed film. The advantages include greater sensitivity to light, but with the cost of increased noise.
For every 3 dB increase in income from the increase of light equal to 1 f-stop. Sometimes the increase in noise can be used artistically, but cautious.
